The attack always ends
I believe I have another 'gem' for you today!
I ended up going out for dinner last night with a friend who is among other things a 'life coach'. This friend works with many people, including those who suffer from panic attacks.
I've never had a panic attack, but I'm certain they're most debilitating. Actually, in retrospect, I may have suffered a 7 year 'panic attack' when I worked with Danny Hooper on the CFCW morning show. Goodness only knows, there were times I was rendered speechless and really quite useless.
I jest of course, and please know I appreciate the seriousness of legitimate panic attacks.
Anyway, my friend gave great advice that I thought I'd share with you today. He reminds people who suffer from panic attacks that one thing ALWAYS happens. That 'one thing' is that the attack ALWAYS ends. ALWAYS.
He suggested that the next time I have a thought or worry that I don't want to have, to remind myself that 'it will pass', that it WILL END. In addition, to remind myself that in all likelihood, I've dealt with the same thought before AND that I can decide how long it will sit with me.
Obviously, there are variables. I found his advice though to be extremely helpful and I am going to endeavour to apply it the next time I'm 'unsettled'.
I'm excited about the week ahead! The Chapters Store in Sherwood Park has requested more copies of my book 'The Gift of Adultery'! (I'm tickled pink) Wednesday night, I'm at the Leduc Library at 7 p.m., and on Saturday, I'm at Coles Bookstore in Southgate for a signing between 12-3.
Have a great Tuesday Friends!
