Exceeding my own expectations
'Gob-smacked!' That's how I felt last night.
I was gob-smacked after receiving an e-mail message from the Westside Chapters store in Edmt. It's the one on 170th street and 99th avenue. The manager asked if I could bring in more books. She wrote 'I'd like to say congratulations. I have never seen a consignment title sell as well as yours is'.
I may have to re-think my decision not to print anymore copies. You see, I had decided that 'if' I sold the 2000 copies I'd printed, I'd consider myself very fortunate and move on to whatever my next project will be. I obviously don't have an advertising budget, so it means the book is selling through 'word of mouth'. Can't tell you what this means to me.
Almost daily, I head to the post office to mail out more copies of 'The Gift of Adultery'. I have nothing to compare sales of the book to, as I'm doing this all on my own. Suffices to say that selling almost 2000 copies in 4 months has exceeded ALL expectations.
My plans for the day have changed now, as I've got to head out to the west end lickety-split. I have another book delivery! Who would have ever thunk?
