Chicken soup for breakfast
Good Saturday morning! I've got my first official cold of the season, and I am down for the count. I'm fine, it's just a cold---and I consider myself VERY fortunate that I'm able to rest today.
I've been anxious to tell you about what I learned on my latest travel adventure. Aside from all the fabulous history and culture that I experienced in New Orleans, I was schooled in 'personal growth'.
*Among other things, I've realized I prefer short jaunts over long hauls. *I've learned that NO hotel room is nicer than my bedroom! We stayed in fabulous places---it's just that NOTHING rivals the comfort of my own bedroom. *I've learned how truly independent I am. I would think nothing of booking a flight to wherever and going there by myself for however long. *As independent as I am, group trips are great fun. You literally do not have to think, AND you get to hang out with some very cool people. *I realized how much I love my 'alone' time. *I've confirmed what a private person I am; that I prefer intimate conversations with interesting people rather than small talk. *I know how fortunate I am to be able to travel. I read last night that the happiest days of a person's life are often the day right 'before' a vacation! It's because on that day, we're so filled with excitement and anticipation.
I met some wonderful people on my trip, many of whom I will stay in touch with. There was one lady in particular who truly affected me. I'll tell you about her next week. She said something that I CANNOT get out of my head. It's not a bad thing---it's just a very 'real thing'. More on that next week.
I find it amazing how much I learn on each and every travel adventure I have, whether it be solo or with a group.
This might seem very obvious or simplistic to some of you. Please note though, that I'm working VERY hard to rebuild my life. It's why every discovery, every lesson, every experience is so important. Combined, all of these revelations are helping me to create the life I want and I'm happy to report I'm getting there bit by bit!
Time to nurse this cold. Have a great weekend friends!
