My Mother
Goin' to Red Deer!
Good Friday morning! I'm so looking forward to my road trip to Red Deer tomorrow. It's been forever since I've headed south. Thanks to Gaylene Juneau, I'll be at the 'Sunworks Home and Garden' store between 12 and 2:30 for a book signing. Hope to see as many of you there as possible!
I'm in a happy place today and that's important. I'm honouring my Mom today. It was 18 years ago today that my Mother died of brain cancer. She passed away one day after her 68th birthday. We were inconsolable. She was the Matriarch of our family. Obviously, I wish she was still here. She'd be 85 this year, and I would be spoiling her rotten!
Mom was extremely compassionate and generous. One of the reasons she planted such a massive garden was so she could give away the produce. LOTS of produce! People readily shared their problems with Mom because she 'listened.'
My parents taught us the 'golden rules'. These rules are as old as time, but they're as relevant today as they've always been. For so long, I took these things for granted. At times, I thought these rules were outdated, old fashioned. I no longer take my upbringing for granted. I am who I am today because of what I was taught, and how I choose to live in the world.
Thank you Mom and Dad for 'showing me the way'.
Thank you John W Myslicki for reminding me that even though my parents are no longer here, they are ALWAYS with me.
Have a 'remarkable' Friday my friends. xox
